Training and Education

Recruiting and training members of the workforce is a primary concern of the highway construction industry. Attracting and retaining qualified workers is critical to the success of our industry. KCA continues to develop the resources required to meet these workforce challenges for its members at all levels of the construction business.

KCA Craft Worker Training
Beginning in 2007, KCA is developing a state-of-the-art craft worker training program with courses scheduled at numerous locations throughout Kansas. Courses are developed by industry specialists to meet the specific needs of contractors. In addition to these "public" courses--covering virtually every member specialty--customized in-house training services are also available for interested contractors on any topic. In-house courses are generally held at your site, using your equipment, exclusively for your employees. Both public and custom courses may be eligible for KDOT training fund cost reimbursement. The list of courses will be posted soon. Stay tuned!

For more information or to receive a detailed information packet and registration form, please contact the KCA Offices at 785-266-4152 or send e-mail to Karen Wagaman at kca4@ink.org.

Technical Seminars and Safety Conferences and Workshops
Programs are conducted throughout the state, many as part of KCA's state and national conventions.

Public or custom/in house training is available. If you are a contractor or subcontractor for KDOT, you probably have tuition credit available to your employees. Contact the Kansas Contractors Association to see if your company may take advantage of this program.

KC3 Presents the
Construction Industry
Workforce Development Summit

May 1, Wichita, KS
May 2, Topeka Kansas

As labor shortages force the construction industry to compete with other industries for employees, contractors must offer more than just a paycheck and a hard hat to meet their labor demands. Training opportunities and cultural awareness are becoming critical factors in attracting and retaining workers.

This is a must attend session to all supervisory employees and industry people who seek to enhance their recruitment and retention efforts. It is also a valuable session  for those people who employ or manage Hispanic workers.
