The current public relations theme of the
association is "Rebuilding
Kansas", and signs and bumper stickers
are available at cost through the
state office. The signs are red/white/blue
painted aluminum for placement
at the start of projects on the road right-of-way,
project entrances, or
at office locations.
An active KCA Public Relations Committee
helps members write and place
news releases in local papers on the start-up
of local projects,
emphasizing the economic impact of the
project, and the number of jobs
created.
The committee has also developed a standard
speech for use by members
when talking before civic organizations
on the subject of the economic
impact of the highway program and other
public works spending.
The association puts its members in contact
with others in the
construction industry. Such meetings and
events provide a line of
communication between the association
and its services and the membership
and its needs.
To encourage a spirit of mutual benefit
and business interaction, and to
foster good networking opportunities among
the members of the
association, KCA-sponsored social activities
include the annual Summer
Fest in June, the annual state convention
in January, monthly social
periods before each highway letting, the
annual Legislative Luncheon
during the session, and the annual division
meetings. KCA members also
have the opportunity to attend the AGC
national convention and midyear
meetings.
