The Kansas Contractors Association and the Kansas Department of Transportation invite you to participate in the KCA/KDOT Excellence in Partnering Awards for 2007.
Nominate your employees for real excellence in Partnering.
Components of the awards program are as follows:
1. Nominations submitted for the KCA/KDOT Partnering Award program will be categorized by the District in which the project occurred and considered for an award in the respective District. There will be two levels for awards in each of the six districts based on dollar volume of project. One level will be for dollar volume of $3 million or less and the other level for dollar volume over $3 million.
2. Submittal deadline for nominations is Friday, January 4, 2008.
3. A project must be at least 80% complete as of December 1, 2007 to be eligible.
4. It is important to provide specific examples of partnering on the project. (ie. Effectively resolved plan issues or combined phasing from 3 parts to two.) Criteria for determining winners include:
(a)Communications/Teamwork
(b)Safety
(c)Trust in Partner
(d)Prompt Decisions
(e)Quality of Construction
(f)Innovations
(g)Timely Completion
(h)Problem Solving
5. Awards will consist of:
(a) Plaques to the prime contractor, subcontractors, owner, consultants, and KDOT area office for each winning project.
(b) Hats or other appropriate items may be provided to all participants of a winning project. This will be determined by prime contractor and KDOT district office that will pay for items if provided.
6. Award presentations will be announced at the annual KCA convention and presented at District Partnering functions.
7. A separate nomination form will be needed for each project nominated and is to be completed jointly by the contractor and KDOT. A copy of the nomination form is enclosed. Additional forms are available on KCA and KDOT's web pages or you may contact the KCA office or area KDOT office.
NOTE: Please remember the filing deadline is Friday, January 4, 2008.
This cut-off date is necessary in order for the judging committee to review the nominations and determine the winners so they can be announced at the KCA Convention.
